By the Sweat of Our Brows

Sep. 13 | 10 a.m.  –  4 p.m.

In recognition of those enslaved and freed people who worked and lived at the Bratton plantation, descendants gather to tell their stories and honor their legacies. This year, we are focusing on recreation and resistance of free and enslaved persons during the 18th and 19th centuries.

Activities:
• Meet descendants, both Black and white, of the people who lived and worked on the Bratton family’s 19th-century cotton plantation
• Children and family activities, including  traditional toys & games and baseball game (11 a.m. & 3 p.m.)
• Historic Brattonsville Site Tour (Noon)
• Special Descendants’ Presentation: “Lineage and Legacy: Conversations Across Generations” (1 p.m.)
• Enslaved Ancestral Burial Ground Tour (2 p.m.)
